LISTENING
1.28
Listen to Mel and her dad talking
about presents that she has got for her friends.
Match the presents A–H with the friends 1–5.
Answering the question
In writing exams, you can write a text with no
grammar or spelling mistakes, and not pass the
exam. It is essential to answer the question.
Read the task carefully and put all the necessary
information in your text.
Texts that are very long or very short do not
usually get good marks. Write the required number
of words.
Matching
In matching activities, there are, for example, five
people but eight pieces of information. Sometimes
the extra pieces of information appear in the
conversation but they are not the correct answers.
The names are usually in the order in which they
appear in the conversation.
Giving personal information
In the first part of a speaking test examiners often
ask questions about personal information.
Practise speaking about your age, where you are
from, where you live, school, your daily routine,
your likes and dislikes …
Practise speaking loudly and clearly.
Say a lot of things. The examiner wants to hear
you speak!
If you don’t understand the examiner, ask him/her
to repeat the question.
