Mediation: Using Classic Approaches to Develop Contemporary Skills

Innovations in the ELT classroom are developing at an increasing rate.  How can teachers use their well established tools and methods to keep up with these changes?  Ollie Wood will examine how teachers can approach one of these new developments, Mediation, which was added to the CEFR in 2020, using time honored methods such as grammar and translation.




Ollie Wood is a teacher, teacher trainer, and materials writer with an MA in TEFL/SL. He has worked across Europe as a teacher trainer, and written and presented webinars for some of the biggest names in English language teaching. He is particularly interested in helping to bring the skills of ELT professionals to teachers in the state sector to create more inclusive classrooms. He works extensively to promote CLIL methodology and the use of technology inside and outside of the classroom. As a writer, he has worked on various course books with major publishers, developed pedagogical materials for the Rohingya refugees, and has contributed to two ELTon award-winning projects.
