Helping students remember vocabulary

The ability to learn words quickly is an advantage at every level, from simple survival phrases to using different registers and gaining high scores in language exams. How can we help students acquire vocabulary effectively? Drawing from the science of human memory, this session provides a series of practical teaching ideas.

Katie Harris is an ELT teacher who speaks several foreign languages. With an MPhil in linguistics from Cambridge University and an MRes specialising in neurolinguistics from UCL, she is fascinated by the science of how adults learn languages and its applications for the classroom. An active member of the polyglot community, Katie is often invited to speak at international events such as the Polyglot Conference.
